Configure a domain name

This guide explains how to point your domain name to your YorkHost web hosting with cPanel.

Prerequisites

  • A domain name purchased from a registrar (OVH, Cloudflare, Namecheap, etc.)
  • An active YorkHost web hosting (cPanel)

The simplest method is to use our DNS servers directly. This allows YorkHost to automatically manage your DNS records.

Steps

  1. Log in to your registrar's panel (where you purchased your domain)
  2. Find the Nameservers section
  3. Replace the current nameservers with:
Nameserver
ns1.yorkhost.fr
ns2.yorkhost.fr
  1. Save the changes
  2. Wait for DNS propagation (can take up to 48 hours)
Why this method?

By using our nameservers, DNS configuration is automatically managed from cPanel. You don't need to manually create A, MX, or other records.

Option 2: Manually create an A record

If you prefer to keep your current nameservers (e.g., Cloudflare), you can create an A record pointing to your hosting.

Find your hosting IP

  1. Log in to your YorkHost client area
  2. Navigate to your cPanel hosting
  3. Your server's IP address is displayed in your hosting information
info

Your hosting IP address is only visible from your client area or cPanel. It is not publicly shared.

Configure DNS records

Go to your registrar and create the following records:

TypeNameValueTTL
A@Your hosting IP3600
AwwwYour hosting IP3600
warning

Replace Your hosting IP with the actual IP address shown in your client area / cPanel.

Add the domain in cPanel

  1. Log in to cPanel via your client area
  2. In the Domains section, click Domains
  3. Click Create a New Domain
  4. Enter your domain name
  5. Click Submit

Verification

After DNS propagation, verify that your domain points correctly:

nslookup yourdomain.com

Or use an online tool like DNS Checker.

DNS Propagation

DNS propagation can take from a few minutes to 48 hours. Be patient if your domain doesn't work immediately.
